About the Project

Pienava Wind Park is set to become up to 22-turbine, 158MW onshore wind power plant, strategically located to harness the excellent wind conditions of the Semigallia flatlands in Tukums municipality, just a one-hour drive from Riga, the capital of Latvia. Anticipated to be completed by 2027, this wind park will rank among Latvia’s largest onshore wind farms, playing a pivotal role in strengthening local electricity generation and reducing dependence on fossil energy sources.

After successful approval of EIA in 2019, the initial approval for the wind park was granted by Tukums municipality in 2022, followed by the issue of a license from the Ministry of Economics for the introduction of new generating capacity. In 2023, the project secured the reservation of transmission system operator (TSO) grid capacity. Pienava Wind has received the first building permits.  The construction phase is scheduled to commence in 2025, with turbine installation expected to start in late 2025 or early 2026, leading to the Commercial Operation Date (COD) in early 2027.
