Agenda 2030 and SDG’s
Eolus’ sustainability efforts are anchored in the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) as well as the ten principles on human rights, labor rights, environment, and anti-corruption outlined in the UN Global Compact. We strategically work on implementing the principles into our business strategy, culture, and daily operations. Eolus’ primary focus lies on the Sustainable Development Goals 7, 13, 14, and 15 as they have a clear connection to Eolus’ core operations and the sustainability aspects identified as essential for the company.

7. Affordable and Clean Energy
Eolus’ fundamental business concept is to create opportunities to invest in renewable energy for a sustainable future. By developing, establishing and managing large-scale power plants for renewable energy production, Eolus is contributing to decreasing the worlds reliance on fossil fuels by increasing the amount of renewable energy in the global energy mix (subgoal 7.2).
13. Climate Action
Taking action to mitigate global warming is a fundamental part of our business idea by creating opportunities to invest in renewable energy. Eolus works actively to increase awareness on how renewable energy can decrease global greenhouse gas emissions and limit the effects of climate change (subgoal 13.3). We are also working actively to decrease greenhouse gas emissions from our own operations.
14. Life Below Water
When developing offshore windfarms we avoid areas that hold high natural values and work to strenthen the marine environments resilience by taking measures to restore ecosystems and achieve healthy and productive oceans (subgoal 14.2). We have a collaboration with Baltic Sea Action Group (BSAG), a non-profit organisation that works to protect and restore the marine environment of the Baltic Sea.
15. Life on Land
We strive to protect ecosystems and preserve biodiversity by aiming to avoid impacts on ecosystems and take measures to mitigate any effects (subgoal 15.1 and 15.2). We want to set goals for biodiversity on a group level and therefore we have joined the research project CLImB (Changing Land use Impact on Biodiversity) that aims to create a tool for evaluating Swedish and Nordic nature in a comparable way.
