Solar
Solar energy, or solar power, is another important part of Eolus’s forward-looking renewable energy solutions. Solar power utilizes the enormous energy radiated every day by the sun to generate electricity and heat.
Just as onshore wind power is the cheapest way to add new generation capacity in certain markets, solar power is the cheapest in other markets. Cost reductions combined with various subsidies have resulted in rapid development in several countries. Eolus’s solar operations focus on larger facilities and have no activities that target consumers. Experience gained from more than 30 years of project development in wind power has also provided us with knowledge in establishing utility-scale solar power facilities.
By integrating solar power into our portfolio of renewable energy solutions, Eolus is striving to reduce the dependence on non-renewable energy sources and to contribute to a more sustainable future. Solar power is a key component in enabling the energy transition and creating a world where energy generation takes place within the limits of our planet and with a minimal impact on the environment.
Solar energy for the future
Important contribution to the transition
Electricity demand in Sweden will double over the next 20 years, according to an estimate from the Swedish Energy Agency. To meet this demand, solar power – an infinite and fossil-free energy source – will be an important part of the transition.
Careful use of land
A solar farm comprises of solar panels that are attached to stands that are driven into the earth. Only small spaces need to be paved. It is therefore easy to restore the area after dismantling when the project ends.
Good and stable returns
Solar energy generation over the year is easy to predict, and changes little from year to year. The rate of compensation to landowners is attractive and competitive compared with other land use.
Efficient establishment
Solar power is the utility-scale energy source that is fastest to build. The permit process and construction period are shorter than any other utility-scale electricity-generating facility.
Solar Stewardship Initiative
Eolus is a member of the Solar Stewardship Initiative (SSI), a solar-specific value chain assurance programme that combines supply chain integrity with enhanced Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance. Supported by more than 60+ organizations across the global solar value chain, the SSI works to promote responsible sourcing and refining of materials, improving recyclability of solar products, and minimizing environmental impacts associated with solar panel production.
